About Frances Russell
Frances has been an RMT since 1995 and is licensed in both Ontario
and British Columbia. She has also been certified in Active
Release Techniques (ART) since 1998. She specializes in treatment
based massage for athletes of all disciplines, as well as patients
with chronic muscular pain, nerve impingements, repetitive strains,
and postural and structural imbalances.

Frances has competed in Ironman USA, Europe, Canada and the Montreal
Esprit races and has completed numerous half Ironman and marathon
events. Additionally, Frances has completed the Keskinada Loppet
50k skate ski event and the International Big Rideau Lake Speed
Skating Marathon. In the past, she has played various team
sports such as basketball and softball at a competitive level.
Her
sports experience combined with training in Active Release Techniques
(ART) and connective tissue mobilization puts her at the forefront
of sports massage
therapy. Her experience has proven to be beneficial in the
treatment of injury rehabilitation and maintenance. Frances has
written articles
and given presentations to various athletic groups on the benefits
of ART, sports massage and self care.
Frances has treated athletes from the Professional Ironman Circuit
and International Triathlon Union (ITU) as well as the National
Hockey League, Biathlon Canada, Junior National Tennis and Junior
National Figure Skating. She has volunteered as an RMT at numerous competitions including
the National Capital Marathon and the Canadian Gymnastics Championships.
Additionally, she has worked with competitive athletes in a wide
variety of sports including rowing, kick boxing, cross country skiing,
soccer and swimming. The majority of her current practice is focused
on the treatment of runners and triathletes competing at all levels
and varying distances.
